How to Secure Exclusive Roles From Clients

How to Secure Exclusive Roles From Clients Securing exclusive work from clients is the dream for any third party recruiter. As soon as you know the role is yours to fill, you can  justify channeling  extreme amounts of effort and giving the client the stellar service youre capable of and they deserve. Unfortunately,  locking down exclusive roles to work on is easier said than done. Whats your best bet when it comes to getting exclusive with clients? We put it to our expert panel of recruiters. Here are their top tips: Lysha Holmes Approach recruitment as a partner and work with them as their brand ambassador. Do the right thing by them. Dont push them to hire the wrong person. Give free advice when they ask for your opinion. Meet them regularly. Be honest. Lysha Holmes  is Founder of Qui Recruitment Gill Buchanan Make sure you can show strong evidence of a successful track record in their sector. Provide written testimonials and access to previous clients who would be happy to provide verbal references. Take the time to meet and discuss the role and to really understand their requirements. Explain your recruitment plan thoroughly and make sure you follow through with it. Demonstrate that your approach is not one of a ‘C.V. race’ against other recruiters but of a focus on achieving a quality outcome   a candidate who is the right fit for the role and for the organisation’s overall culture. Gill Buchanan  is Director at Pure Resourcing Solutions Billy Smith The main aim of securing exclusive work is to find out what the client’s biggest need/want is. 90% of the time, we find if we can offer clear timelines on when a client will receive a shortlist, have interviews arranged and offers made, this takes the full process away from them allowing them to concentrate on what they do best. It’s also important to know your sector enabling recruiters to build relationships and give clients the confidence that the right person will be found. Billy Smith  is Managing Director at FGS Recruitment Iain Hamilton I am bored of the exclusivity pitch, and so are clients. If you are going to offer traditional agency services then deliver candidates so great that your client doesnt want to use anyone else. If you want to step ahead of the curve, then consider a completely different service model that disrupts all the clichés of the recruitment industry. Flip those clichés on their head and provide a service your client cannot live without. It will take a while to catch on but the question is; do you want to lead, or be led? Iain Hamilton is Founder of People Traction Adam Glassman Track and use your performance data. What does it say about you? Are you better at driving a volume of applicants? Are you fantastic at finding C-suite placements? What do your time to fill, offer to hire ratios and quality of hire metrics look like? Track all of these elements and use them as your differentiators. Adam Glassman is Recruitment Strategies Manager at Alorica Chad MacRae Honestly? Just do a good job. Don’t be a jerk. Treat people well. It’s about relationships. And relationships aren’t transactions. They’re connections with people. Chad MacRae is Founder of Recruiting Social David Morel Honesty. Clients in this day and age want to deal with honest Consultants who are up front about their knowledge limitations, turnaround times and whether they are going to be able to hit the mark with the candidates they send through. They are more likely to offer you exclusivity if you are straight down the line with them. They might only give you a period of exclusivity for a certain timeframe, but this is better than multi any day! David Morel  is CEO Founder of Tiger Recruitment Lisa Jones Not a tip as such, as a tip denotes something quick Having a really clean and viable talent pool on your database. Having one which you have nurtured and kept warm one that needs you, is massively valuable to your clients. Lisa Jones  is Director at Barclay Jones Bronwen Hann For us, what’s old is new again. There are always new ATS and ways of aggregating social media during your searches, but what works long-term is the ability to build relationships. For us the phone is still the best tool to further that goal, so we’re refocusing on that venerable technology and trying to make it newly relevant in our business. It’s valuable to source through social media, but the best way to source is by having conversations with your network â€" finding out what’s driving their careers, who they know who is active on the market, etc. Recruiters who can harness this will always have an advantage. Bronwen Hann is  President   Senior Partner at Argentus Supply Chain Recruiting James Nathan If you want clients to work with you exclusively, you need to get in first, be extremely easy to work with, be extremely credible and build a high level of trust, and most of all deliver at an amazing level. If you do this the first time you work with someone, then they will be so blown away that you will differentiate yourself so far above your competitors that they won’t even think about doing else where. Then all you need to do is maintain that service. Easy.   James Nathan  is  Founder of The James Nathan Experience Dualta Doherty Show them a track record of what you can do and examples of the types of candidates you work with. Demonstrate your ability to make this your number one priority, walk them through the process and agree timelines, and invite them to the office to interview the short list with you.   Once you have their buy ask them to give you this assignment for an initial 2 weeks. Make Your Book Title and Brand Easy to Remember - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Make Your Book Title and Brand Easy to Remember - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Sometimes the most important lessons in personal branding are the simplest ones, like using alliteration, or repeated hard sounds, to make the title of your brand-building book stand out and be easy to remember. Its something I think of every time I hear local classical music FM radio station promote their Mozart Block at 9:00. The Mozart Block has been around for years; and its not just used in Boston, but the idea has been copied by classical music stations around the country. What is so powerful about the Mozart Block at 9:00? (Or 2:00? Or 7:00?) Alliteration, memory, and brand building The use of alliteration, i.e., the repetition of hard sounds, like   p, b, k, d and t, is an one of the most effective ways to make a titles or phrases memorable. Sound plays an important role in message retention, regardless how your clients and prospects encounter your title or personal branding statement: Spoken words. When heard, phrases with consonants create a rhythm that brands the title or phrase into the listeners mind, resulting in easier recall. Written words. The same thing happens in your readers mind when reading; your readers will hear the rhythm of the consonants. So, when you driving in Boston and listening to the classical music station and they remind you to tune into tomorrows Mozart Block at 9 Oclock, the tuh of Mozart establishes a rhythm that resonates with the kuh sound of Block and is repeated by the concluding kuh of Clock. Alliteration is all around you Now that you know to look for it, youll be able to notice examples of it in everyday names and phrases: Titles. Alliteration is a building block of titles used for books, movies, and television shows.   Performers names, too, benefit from names with strong initial consonants: i.e., Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young.   Examples of book titles with alliteration include Bob Burgs best-selling The Go-Giver, Dr. Frank Luntzs Words that Work, and Hallowell and Rateys Driven to Distraction. Brands. Many famous brands employ alliteration: The Jolly Green Giant, in New England, the one of the leading supermarket chains is Market Basket. Mottos, slogans, catchphrases. Tippecanoe and Tyler, Too!, The Business of America is Business,   Frankly, my Dear, I Dont Give a Damn! are just the tip of the iceberg, which could be joined by America: Love It or Leave It! Compare the rhythm and ease of remembering Bring Back the Bread Line with Bring Back Free Hamburger. (Its easy to remember the Bread Line version, but Free Hamburgeror, was it Free Sausages?version has less impact and is harder to remember. Recommended Resources for Writers (See, above? Even subheads can benefit from alliteration!) Ive included several examples of book titles and subtitles in my latest book, Book Title Tweet. Come to think of it,you can also use alliteration to make your Tweets more memorable! I also recommend Sam Horns POP!: Create the Perfect Pitch, Title, and Tagline for Anything. POP! is especially helpful because Sam has included several creativity-enhancing exercises you can use to create strong pitches, titles and taglines. Put alliteration to work building your personal brand Take a look around you, and compile a list of names, titles, and phrases that are use alliteration to communicate with impact while enhancing memory retention. Look in your bookshelf, check out the titles on your iPod or CD collection, and see which TV programs youve set up for recording on your TiVo. Make Networking Easier With These 6 LinkedIn Tips

Make Networking Easier With These 6 LinkedIn Tips LinkedIn is a business-oriented online space that has been designed to encourage professional networking with one’s clients, associates, and colleagues. Although this is the primary use of LinkedIn, it has attributed to the growth of many users in areas of personal, professional, and organizational development. LinkedIn enables professional networking through its various features, allowing users to connect with each other, build networks, join groups, and as a result help with their professional development. Listed below, are a couple of ways in which one can network resourcefully, using LinkedIn as a medium. 1) LinkedIn Connected App Let’s begin by understanding how the LinkedIn Connected App works. The Connected App basically displays your ordinary desktop notifications in the form of highlights via this app. Let’s say a connection of yours switched jobs or has his work-anniversary coming up soon, the app will notify you, enabling you to choose to send a congratulatory message. Via this highlight, you can also view connections you have in common with the user, their details (including their profile picture.) The connected app makes it easier to connect with people in an efficient manner, without having to go through a lot of pains to stay connected to someone. This way, you’ll find it easier to stay connected to multiple users, while easily maintaining these connections and networks formed on LinkedIn. Apart from network updates, the app also lets you browse through potential connections, and send them an invite to add them to your network. Hence, it acts as a highly useful tool to form and maintain connections, enabling you to network effortlessly. 2) Being A Part Of The Right Kind Of Groups In LinkedIn, it is very important to be a part of groups that are best suited for you. There are more than a million groups on LinkedIn, hence searching for one that will potentially help you build a significant network is very important. The aim is to find professionals with similar interests and goals. The best place to search for groups to be a part of is the Discover tab. Here, you can search for specific keywords related to the kind of groups you want to join. These keywords could be related to your job title, field of work, interests, and so on. This helps in narrowing down a list of groups you could be a part of, helping you gain a wider network in the process. 3) Don’t Forget To Mention A Call-To-Action One must never underestimate the importance of a good call to action. It not only showcases you as a hands-on individual, but also acts as an open invitation for the viewer to connect with you. The call to action is generally placed at the end of a summary. A reader generally goes through your summary to have a quick read about your qualifications and experience, and on the basis of that decides whether or not to further contact you. If at the end of a well-written summary there is no call to action, the reader has no way to contact you, making you miss out on a potential networking opportunity. To further impress the reader, make sure your call to action is catchy and unconventional. An example of the same would be: Need a quick fix for your problems? Contact me at abc@xyz.com 4) Personalization of Connection Requests It is safe to say that not many people are a fan of being sent messages that are generalized and not specifically meant for you. This doesn’t just restrict to just LinkedIn messages, but messages in general. Hence, always make sure that whenever you’re sending out a connection request to a professional, personalize it in a way that upon reading your message, they know it is a unique message that has only been sent to them. You are given 300 characters to utilize, so make best use of it. Mentioning how you know the other person, how you’ve admired their work, and talking about how you’ve been hoping to connect to them for a while. Adding a personal touch to these messages will leave them with no choice but to accept your connection request. An example for a personalized connection request could be as follows: Hey Xyz, I’ve been meaning to connect with you ever since I saw your detailed research report on Abc project. I’ve heard great things about your paper on xyz, and hope to someday work alongside on a project. Until then! Best regards, Abc   5) Open Profile Feature The open profile feature, although only available for premium users, is of great use if you’re looking to connect to people beyond first degree connections. On LinkedIn, an individual can only either send messages to members of the groups they’re a part of, or to first degree connections. The open profile feature allows the user to connect with any other LinkedIn user, and at the same time allows any other user to connect to you, even if they don’t have a premium account. This not only broadens up the range of connections you’ll be able to make, but also helps in inviting professionals and users with similar interests to connect with you. 6) Get Found In LinkedIn Search With The Right Keywords Having an updated profile, although necessary, is of no use if there is no way of finding it in the LinkedIn search box. Gaining visibility for your LinkedIn profile is of utmost importance In order to be found by prospective professionals, recruiters etc. Using the right keywords in your profile, not only helps you gain visibility for your profile, but also opens up doors for networking opportunities. Adding specific keywords to your headline, job title, and certifications and so on, will considerably increase your chances of being found on LinkedIn. This will not only improve the quality of your profile with the inclusion of keyword-specific information, but also invite potential professionals to connect with. Now that you’ve gone through a list of ways in which you can network more efficiently through LinkedIn, you can go on and apply these pointers to your profile to see the difference for yourself! Why Write Objective Resume Examples?

Why Write Objective Resume Examples? When you are writing your resume or cover letter, you may be wondering what sort of writing objective resume examples to use. These examples will help you to realize that the main point of these resumes is to attract the right people into your potential employer's office and that's what a resume is all about. Both your cover letter and resume should be submitted to someone that you would want to get to know better. Branding Schmanding

Branding Schmanding The topic of Tiger Woods tarnished brand is all over the Internet, TV, and print media. And while I understand the commentary I think that the concept of celebrity branding is doomed to fail because celebrity brands often represent attributes that nobody can maintain forever. No one makes the right choices all the time and no one can sustain the dubious distinction of role model 24/7. People make mistakesbig mistakes. Thats what makes them human.Tiger Woods rose to fame because of his skills as a golfer. Similarly,   Brittany Spears acquired fame because of her vocal and dance talents. The media tacked on all the other brand spin and pedestal pushing and thats what did these celebrities in. But they are still great at their core brand attributesthe authentic ones that they developed over the years with hard work and practice. And usually when celebrities bounce back it is because they refocus on what they are good at and regain credibility and public acceptance.Regular people with st rong career brands make mistakes everyday too. They just arent played out in real time for everyone to see. Im sure there are many people out there who have earned a stellar reputation for what they do professionally, but have a less than squeaky clean scorecard when it comes to their personal life. Im sure many have cheated on their spouses, been caught driving while intoxicated, made bad parenting decisions, and just screwed up in general. But that doesnt mean that their professional brand isnt valid and it doesnt mean that their transgressions make them any less capable in their professional lives. So maybe its time to start separating a strong professional brand from human nature. Maybe its just not realistic to link the two together so closely. I know I wouldnt want my professional brand to be judged on every bad personal decision I have made. Would you?

Picking Your Spot Is It a Good Idea to Be Hiring During the Holidays - Margaret Buj - Interview Coach

Picking Your Spot Is It a Good Idea to Be Hiring During the Holidays It is a common trend among companies to freeze their hiring processes during the holidays. Applicants and hiring departments alike have a lot on their plate. Everything is winding down for the year and proceeding with a job hunt or recruitment process is often the first task to fall by the wayside. But companies that suspend hiring during the holiday period are missing out on reaping valuable rewards. Places like Contingent Staffing Solutions offer great hiring opportunities around the holiday season for companies that don’t go into recruitment hibernation. These are just some of the reasons why your company should continue to find strong candidates during the holidays. There is Less Competition for Candidates Because many other firms have put their hiring processes on hold, there is often less competition on job boards. This means that your advertisement will attract more attention from potential candidates and should receive more applicants, giving you a wider talent pool to choose from. Get Ahead of the Rush When everyone comes back after the holidays, there is often a lot of work to be done. Staff are catching up on emails and tasks they missed while they were off work. Then the New Year uptick kicks in and business surges. Hiring your new team before the January rush will help you get ahead of the curve and leave you with less to tend to in the first weeks of the new year. More Motivated Candidates As many applicants take a break from the job hunt over the holiday break, those that continue to search during the holiday period are often some of the most dedicated and motivated candidates available. They continue their job search because they need to find work and resist the temptation to rest on their laurels and enjoy the holiday cheer. These are the people you want to work for your company. The dedication they bring to the job hunt will translate into their working life. There is No Shortage of Networking Events With so many holiday parties going on around the city, it is a great opportunity to network and put some feelers out for candidates who might be interested in a change of scenery. Let people know that you are hiring during these social events and the message will soon get around. This could prompt some strong candidates who are not actively seeking a new job but have an interest in working for your company to reach out. Your Employees are Spending Time with Family and Friends If you have an employee referral program, the holidays are a great time to remind them that you need new workers. Everyone spends a great deal of time with family and friends around the holiday season and employees who are eying up those referral incentives are in the prime position to encourage their loved ones to apply. Everyone is Available to Interview   The holiday season is one of the easiest times to get candidates in for an interview. Many have time off from their jobs and can come in on short notice if necessary. Even if they are not off work, they are much more likely to be able to request time off to come to an interview without raising any alarm bells with their current employer. A lot of people take time off around the holidays and it shouldn’t raise any suspicion.
